Strengthening
Strength work is often the key, and also often the least adhered to part of your injury return. It is also a great preventer of injury.
What is strength work?
There are many different types of strength work. Just going for a run or walk is a form of strength work, you are loading your muscles and tendons, and they get stronger from that.
Isolating injured structures, or the structures that surround the injured structures, and strengthening them up is 101 of musculoskeletal pain rehab. Calm it down, then build it back up.
How can strengthening help?
Eccentric, concentric, isometric, plyometric and isotonic are all different ways of strengthening muscles and tendons. Some respond to eccentric better than isometric for example.
We can help guide you on the best exercises for the stage of your injury you are at, as well as identify structures that are a little weaker, and that more strength could have some injury prevention benefits.
