Usually presents in the morning as you put your foot on the ground and hobble around for a few minutes as it ‘warms up’.

As there are many causes of heel pain and plantar fasciitis it is often different in the athlete. Extremes in strength training, long runs for marathoners and slight changes to your go to runner or football boot from season to season often contribute.

Initially massage, iceing, stretching not just of the fascia but the important surrounding supporting structures can quickly relieve symptoms.

Non responsive cases often require arch supports or orthoses/orthotics, however overall core hip and pelvic function is extremely important and need close attention.
